Body lotions like Vaseline has many uses. In fact, body lotions are widely used that almost every bedroom or bathroom has it. But there are times that spills from this type of products do happen on a carpet. And often times when this happens, we’ll be running within our house to get a paper towel or worse, a toilet paper to scoop up the body lotion then leave the remainder of it on the carpet. Next thing you know is that you have a carpet stain already.

Here in Able’s Carpet Cleaning Pueblo Colorado, we don’t mind giving DIY tips to people. Because like you, we also have the burden to maintain the cleanliness of our home with little effort and spending as much as possible.

So below are the things you will need to clean you carpet from body lotion stains.

  • A spoon or anything that can scoop the body lotion that got spilled on the carpet
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Clean cloth
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 3 tbsp. warm water
  • 1 tbsp. of dish detergent
  • Spray bottle
  • 1 tbsp. of hydrogen peroxide

Here are the steps to do it

  1. Use the spoon or the scooper you have chosen to scoop up the body lotion
  2. On a clean cloth, put some rubbing alcohol on it and blot it on the affected area on where the body lotion got spilled. Since that most body lotions are petroleum based, this will allow for the alcohol to break down the oil within the body lotion. Do this a few times to allow the alcohol to break the body lotion down thoroughly
  3. Put the 1 cup of warm water and the dish detergent on the spray bottle. Make sure that the dish detergent is dissolved properly.
  4. Spray the mixture that was made from step 3 on the affected area and let it sit for 5 minutes
  5. Blot the excess dish soap and let the carpet dry for 30 minutes
  6. Put 1tbsp of hydrogen peroxide and 3 tbsp. of warm water on the spray bottle
  7. Spray the affected area with the mixture from step 6. Cover the affected area with a clean towel and let it sit for 30 minutes. Remove the towel then let the area dry.
  8. Then try to see if the body lotion got removed completely. If not, repeat step 7 as needed.
